Google introduces Presentations into Docs
Sep 18th, 2007 | By knup | Category: GoogleI knew this was coming and now it is here. Google Docs has introduced the latest enhancement called Presentation. This is the equivalent to Powerpoint, yet sharable, like the other Google Docs. Amazing! For those of you that aren’t familiar with Google Docs, they have a suite of applications at http://docs.google.com which includes a Word equivalent, Excel equivalent and now a Powerpoint equivalent.
In Google Presentation you can do all sorts of features such as create new slides, duplicate slide, insert images and text, change themes, re-order slides, share your presentation, publish your presentation to the web, and run a slideshow. There are 15 themes included in this application that you can use as background to your slides. After you create a slide you can choose from five different layouts. You have the ability to reorder slides and delete them just like Powerpoint.
There is also a chat interface so you can collaborate with others within the same spreadsheet. You can share the sheet, go full screen, etc. At this point you can not embed the presentation but that will come with time. Another nice feature is you can import Powerpoint files directly into Google Presentations.
All in all – another fine piece of work for Google. I will spend some time playing around with it. It’s nice to have an online/free alternative to Microsofts products.

Good catch! I’ve been playing with this for acouple hours this morning. You beat the “big guys” on this for sure.
many people will just read this with a yawn and say, “corporate news”. But this has a lot of application for bloggers as well.
You want to publish a tutorial, perhaps? No trying to squeeze everything into a bog post … put it together in slide format and just link … Google does all the “hevay lifting”. Want to limit to subscribers only? You can apublsh privately controlling who can see it. comes with live text xhat attached as well … nice application.
