knupNET Screen casting

Mar 20th, 2007 | By knup | Category: Technology

From my hours and hours of reading other blogs and soaking in information - I’ve come to realize that Screen casting is quickly becoming an integral part in the tech based blogs. A Screen Cast is a video of your screen as you narrate what is happening. They are perfect for website tours or for instructions on how to do something.

So due to all of this discussion on Screen casting and great examples of Screen casting throughout the blogosphere, I figure I better keep up with industry and start creating my own knupNET Screen Casts! I’m a complete newbie to this but look for my first Screen Cast within the next few weeks. Any topics you’d like to see? I’ll keep them basic for now and hopefully between 45-90 seconds long.

What tools am I going to use for my Screen casting? I have ZERO experience with these tools but I’m going to look the cheap (free) route first. I’ll give Wink and CamStudio a try first since they are open source free versions but if they don’t cut it I’ll start researching some of the payed software options.

  1. It’s interesting to see peoples faces, to guage their body language and to judge their clothing choice, but do we want to see everyone video blogging.

I’m thinking of doing it as well, but I know my way with words is a lot more interesting than my face in front of a camera. it’s fun to do it as an experiment or to stir things up, but I prefer to read. As I can scan and speed things up, with video you have to watch the whole thing.

I think podcasting is a more useful form of communications.

But I look forward to your video cast. Let me know when it happens.

  2. Great. I found something new here. I never know this untill i found your blog. You defintely save us lotsa time for searching other resouces. Keep it up. :)
