Spread out sources of income

Nov 22nd, 2006 | By knup | Category: Make Money Online

I read a post on digital point the other day that has stuck with me over the last few days. It discussed how most “amateurs” in this field make the common mistake of having a program such as Google Adsense be their only REAL source of income. This is not smart for many reasons. One being - if that program goes away, what other income streams do you have?

I’m a culprit of this with all knupNET sites. I depend solely on Adsense as my revenue means. I have started doing some research on how I can disperse these income streams. One suggestion was get into CPM. My first question - what the heck is that?

CPM is an acronym for Cost Per Thousand — the “M” in CPM derives from the Latin “mille” for “thousand.” CPM is commonly used in marketing as a benchmark to calculate the relative cost of an advertising campaign or an ad message. Rather than an absolute cost, CPM estimates the cost per 1000 views of the ad.

It is calculated by: Total budget / (Impressions/1000) = CPM

There are programs such as ValueClick that I have started researching and might give a try in the near future.

Other ways are selling link space, advertising space and affiliate marketing. All this said, I’m going to really strive hard to make knupNET a little more diverse from here forward.
