Adsense making it harder and harder to make money

Nov 15th, 2007 | By knup | Category: Google

Come on Google. Whats up?!?! In an effort to battle click fraud even more Google has reduced the amount of “clickable space” on google ads.  In the past the entire ad block was clickable, now just the links themselves are clickable.  Yuck!  As a a publisher this will most likely reduce CTR and minimize earnings a little.  It is supposedly good for advertisers as now there will be less “accidental” clicks.  I have been on both ends of this.  I’m not sure if I agree or not.  From an advertiser perspective this makes me mad.  Mad enough to consider another alternative.  From a publisher perspective I kind of liked having the entire ad block clickable as well.  Some of those “accidental” clicks actually lead to sales.  More clicks the merrier in a lot of circumstances.  Below you will see images of the before and after on clickable space in Google ads.

New Clickable Space

Ok, enough complaining about Google.  They did what they did - now it’s time to adjust, like always!
