Weekend Update with knup
Oct 7th, 2007 | By knup | Category: General, knupNET Sites
It’s been a very busy weekend so I apologize to all of you for not blogging the last couple days. It’s weird how the weekends are actually busier than the weekdays these days. But anyways – a few stories to hit on regarding my sites and the industry in general.
- My CubsSuckClub.com site blew up this last week. This is always expected when the Cubs do well because the haters really come out. But it was by far it’s biggest earning week ever! Excited to share some of the detailed stats with you at the close of this month. Sold some shirts, adsense went nuts and even had some text links sell.
- I wanted to thank all of you for the emails and comments over the last week. It is nice to feel a part of the bigger community and to get a little link love as well. I’m here to help others in the industry and I feel it is sosososo important for us to stick together. We can’t compete with the “big dogs” but if we stick together we can give them a run for their money.
- I’m considering a redesign for knupNET.com but not sure what to do. I love the simplistic look of the blog but sometimes it just feels too blah! Know what I mean? I hate to spend time or money enhancing it as I definitely have more things I could doÂ
- I’ve added a bunch of new sites to the Niche Content Network but have not started adding or developing them yet. Just have the domain name (mostly .info’s since they are cheap) and will start adding content soon. Anyone know of a good content writer that is affordable?
- I had a short server outage this weekend but it was planned. They were doing an upgrade on the server. Luckily it was only 5-10 minutes but I apologize if anyone noticed it.
That’s about it for now. I’ll be back at it daily now as things should slow down a bit – i think! Hope all is well with all you readers and look for a nice “Around the Net” tonight!

Ryan,
I don’t have any answers, just sort of posing a question here. I’ve looked at both your celeb network and your niche site network ideas and personally, I think their gangbuster ideas. The fact that you’re not buying bigger servers and inundated with applicants makes me sure that what _I_ think is a good idea probably isn’t.
A friend of mine here in the Philippines … who is a pretty successful blogger and a 6-figure a year community site operator …. set up an informal network a few months ago, where he essentially gives someone a free blog and setup just for asking … I thought he’d be mobbed with wannabes. Take up on his “give back” offer? Virtually nil. (and there are a _lot_ of people here with decent enough English and ahuge interest in celebs … a typical Sunday newspaper has 3 sections of news and 15 sections of “lifestyle”, heavily dominated by Hollywood …).
I’m still convinced (yeah, I know, I’m stubborn) that the underlying idea is sound, just wish I was smart enough to figure how to make new bloggers pull the trigger.
