Should you prove your profits?

Feb 21st, 2008 | By knup | Category: General, Make Money Online

This is the age old question around the “Make Money Online” crowd.  Is it beneficial to prove your profits by showing people physical checks, showing video of your massive earnings, or just stating your monthly numbers.  On one hand this seems a bit arrogant.  Wooo, look at me, I made thousands of dollars in a day and you didn’t.  But on the other hand, people like this motivation.  I know it helps me to see others making it in this industry.  Do I get jealous a bit?  Sure I do.  But at least I know it can be done.

I especially enjoy when guys like Zac and Shoemoney show a little more detail.  I mean you hear all this stuff about them making bagillions of dollars and that they are super affiliates, etc… But to see it for yourself is a good thing!  I can’t wait to make it to a conference in the near future and meet some people like this.  Get some real first hand knowledge and pick their brains a bit  :)

I started to show all my earnings here at knupNET a few months back, but found it kinda worthless.  First of all I’m not making thousands of dollars a month (just hundreds).  I think my time is a little better spent monetizing my network than showing what I made last month.  I’ll try to give an update every few months but the every month update is done for.

So what do you think?  Do you like seeing peoples proof of profit?  Do you believe them?  Should they just keep it to themselves or are they trying to help?

  1. I like seeing other bloggers profits because it motivates me. But I like it more when they show checks or click bank accounts to prove it.

  2. It certainly helps to know what makes money and what doesn’t. I think many bloggers hurt their own credibility when they fail to mention what efforts _didn’t_ pan out well, rather than reporting nothing but one success after another. We actually learn more from failures than successes.

As far as actually showing checks and other documents as ‘proff’, I think thepractice is silly. If I say I make something, i made it …if you don’t belive me, you can ride off into the sunset … I avoid situations where I legally have to provide proof and I owe legal proof to no one I don’t have a contract with. The ‘proofs’ are often a joke anyway .. Shoemoney explained how so many different versions of his famous ‘big check’ photo were made … not one that is on line is an actual picture of a check he got from Google … so what’s the purpose in showing something which can easily be manufactured from thin air?
