What is Technorati?
Mar 5th, 2007 | By knup | Category: BloggingWhat is Technorati? Technorati is a real-time search engine that keeps track of blogs and what is new with them. It is somewhat of a ‘who is hot’ in blogging and keeps track of which blogs are doing well. People can respond and comment on your site, products, and much more which gives you some great feedback. Technorati does a great job of keeping things clean and updating/indexing very often.
Technorati uses what they call tags. A tag is a keyword or category that is used to describe the subject or topic of a post. The choice of tag is not limited at all as a post can be tagged with anything the user wants. Tags are not case-sensitive so it doesn’t really matter whether you choose capital letters or lower-case letters.
Technorati assigns ranking to each website. Ranking becomes higher as more sources reference a web log. You need to become a member and claim your web log to know the Technorati ranking of your own blog. After you claim your web log, your profile information will appear together with your picture next to all the searches involving your web log, if you so desire. People will learn more about you and discover blogs which you authored. Your profile information is completely within your control and is governed by the Privacy Policy. Another way to register your site with Technorati is by adding your blog to Technorati’s Priority Index. This would ensure that your updates, new entries and content are indexed efficiently and with priority by Technorati’s search technology.
