Why Knup would be good for BlogWorld

Aug 6th, 2008 | By knup | Category: Blogging, Contests, My Feature

Speaking at BlogWorldExpo would be quite an honor and it’s something I’ve considered “applying” for several times.  Now, Derek Semmler wants to know why?  I think I would make a great speaker at BlogWorld for a couple reasons.  First, I can communicate with nearly anyone.  Having a full time job at a fortune 500 company gives me a lot of opportunities to give presentations and speak in front of others.  It is essential to know the crowd you are talking to and to bring the message to that level.  I’m a confident person which I also think is quite necessary when speaking to a crowd.  Secondly, I’m just an average guy trying to make money online.  I have a full time job, a wife, kids, and more.  I’m just like 75% of the blogging community and think I could relate and share some experiences on how to balance everything successfully.

So what I would speak about?  There are a couple topics that come to mind.

1) The keys to building a web portfolio and managing hundreds of sites. I came to the conclusion about a year ago that it was going to much easier for me to create 100 sites making $20 a month than it was for me to make 1 site making $2000 a month. This may sound like a lot of work but the pain is decreased if you learn to multitask properly and utilize your time management skills effeciently.  I’ve found that it really pays to hire help and find good people to partner with.  I like to share profits with bloggers.  I do the admin work and monetize the sites while they blog about what they love.  We both split profits and enjoy what we do.  My motto has been “Half of something is better than all of nothing.” Another key is using a consistent platform to minimize the time and effort it takes to launch a site.  I use Wordpress for nearly all my sites and have a lot of great tips to using this.  Recently I’ve converted one of my networks to Wordpress MU and that seems to be wonderful.  The time it takes me to spin up a site and get it making money online is very minimal and I’d love to share my experiences with BlogWorldExpo participants.

2) Sports Blogging and dominating a niche. I love sports. Period. I played sports my entire life and have some experiences and contacts that are big in that industry.  I played college basketball and even had the opportunity to play against and with THE Michael Jordan in his hay-day. I also run a small home business called “Getaway Games” where I run sporting events tailored to the average joe’s of the world.  So as you can see, I live and breath sports. So what better way to spend my online time than to create sites and blogs about sports.  If you are doing something you love you will find that it is SOOO much easier to get work done.  My goal is to dominate this niche and continue to create a huge network of sports related sites.  I’m currently working on a site for every professional MLB, NBA and NFL team.  In doing this I have learned so much and have a lot of great advice for those interested in sports blogging.  If I had the platform to share some of these experiences it would be a wonderful thing.

That’s it for now.  I hope to see (or maybe speak) to all of you at an upcoming BlogWorld event!  Thanks for listening.
